学生是课堂的主角

一、主题与背景

 

面对50多个学生的一个大班,面对中考压力,在教学活动中如何做到以学生为主,如何调动学生学习语言的积极性?在教学《英语(新目标)》第九册Teenagers should be allowed to choose their own clothes之前,我布置了辩论赛的任务,以此作为平时成绩的10%,促使学生认真准备,我补充说,老师容许辩论过程中语言错误的存在。学生感到很兴奋。全班八个学习小组自由组合为四个辩论组,各组提前两天交辩论题目,让学生有时间准备。

 

二、情景描述

 

辩论开始时,每组由一位代表说出本组辩论题目,接着分别由正方和反方各派代表陈述本方观点,辩论过程中某方超过1分钟不作反驳,示为败方。每轮辩论时间为10分钟。抽签决定顺序。裁判员由我和四个学生组成。

 

比赛的阵局摆开了。第一组的辩题是“Should students be allowed to take the mobile phone to school?

 

正方代表Sue发言:“We think students should be allowed to take the mobile phone to school. First, it's very convenient for us to call our parents if we are in trouble at school. Second ...

 

反方也不甘示弱:“We think students shouldn't be allowed to take the mobile phone to school. Because, first, it's too noisy if it rings in class. Second, some students may use the mobile phone to cheat in exams. Third ...

 

一开场似乎反方占了上风,正方毫不怯懦,“First, we are able to turn the mobile phone off in class. So it won't ring in class. Second, we can give it to the teacher when we are having an exam.

 

反方Steve站了起来说:“What if some students tell a lie that he doesn't have a mobile phone?

 

正方几个成员迅速凑在一起商讨,我留心一听,他们商讨所用语言是夹着几个中文单词的英文,还真不错:“The other students know if he takes the mobile phone to school and it is impossible to cheat the teacher.

 

反方代表一下子不知说什么,观众席上其他组员急了,一向少言的Tim举手回答:“The students who have a mobile phone will compare with each other.And they will distract on study.”哇,连后面将学到的定语从句也用得那么好,“distract”在练习中出现过,他居然也用上了,我真为这个学生的进步而高兴。

 

10分钟很快过去了,反方在代表和组员的合作中获胜。正方意犹未尽,Bob说:“We don't have enough time. We will win next time.”我笑了,“I believe.

 

接着三组的论题分别是“Should girls be allowed to have long hair?”“Should students be allowed to have Friday afternoons off?”“Should students be allowed to study with a group at night?

 

第二组一个赞成女生留长发的学生还把我拉进了话题,“It's more energetic and beautiful for girls to have long hair. For example,(指着我说)Miss Yang, she has long hair. How beautiful she is!”我很开心,赶快说:“Thank you. I will talk about this question with the headmaster. But now, please go on with your topic”。

 

第三组正方代表说:“If we are allowed to have Friday afternoons off, we'll have time to do some housework for our parents. They have done so much for us.”“We'll have time to be volunteers to help others.

 

学生自信的神态、精彩的语言、敏捷的思维、风趣的插曲让我备感惊喜。给学生时间和机会,让学生当主角,他们可以表现得如此优秀。想起他们忙于中考复习,仍能体谅父母,帮助别人,我感到很欣慰。

 

时间很快过去,学生裁判宣布了比赛结果,我作了简短的总结,表扬了发言的学生,也表扬了赛前参与准备的学生,并强调:在家应关心体谅父母,在外应乐于助人,平时多采用小组合作学习方式等,对学生进行了情感态度和学习策略的教育。

 

三、教学效果

 

本课的教学让学生始终以积极的情感态度,在轻松愉快的氛围中学习英语,有助于提高学生的认知能力;让学生通过用语言做事情,接受信息,分析信息,组织信息,输出信息,把语言的输入转为有效的语言输出,在语言交际过程中学会使用语言。同时本课教学调动了学生的学习积极性,培养了他们的学习兴趣、学习自信和合作精神。但面对50多个学生的大班,(学生语言层次参差不齐,学习方式各异),面临中考压力,真正体现了以学生为主体的教学理念。

只有让学生真正融入课堂,才能收到好的效果。
