Lesson35

Teacher: Zhao Feng from Baliqiao Middle School,Luonan.

Topic:Happy Birthday!

Teaching Aims:

1)Learn some birthday foodsgifts and dialogues about birthday partyesp. use “Will you come to my birthday party,too? Sure!”

2)Learn to sing the song“Happy Birthday!”

Main and difficult pointsSimple Future Tense.

Teaching methodThe Situational Teaching Method

New Words:birthday,candle,will,party,tonight,really,present

Teaching Aids: Courseware,books,etc.

Teaching Procedures

   Step1.Class Opening:

1).Greeting.

2).Free talk.

   Step2.Presentation:

1).Use a courseware to show some pictures,and let students learn the new words.

2).Tell the students Today is my birthday .Help the student to practice like this :

T : Today is my birthday .

       S : Happy birthday to you !

       T:  Thank you !

     3).Ask individiual students in Chinese,then in English,“What day is your birthday? ”Let  the students answer in Chinese.Then use the pictures,ask individual students about their own birthdays. Do they have presentsA cake? A party? Use English as much as possible and help the students with their answers.

Step3.Practice:

1).Learn and read some sentences.

2).Read these sentences and find out what features do they have? esp.what follows“Will”?

Step4.Ask and answer:

Ask the studends to answer the following questions when we use the coureware.Encourage them to answer.

Step5.Learn the new words:

Use the courewarecheck the students how many words’ meanings do the know.Then click the tromba, have the students read the new words after the pronunciation from the tromba again and again till they can read the words freely by themselves.

Step6.Read and listen:

Use the courseware,let the students read the sentences together. Then click the tromba, have the students read the dialogue after the pronunciation from the tromba when the students read the books on page 44.

Step7.Ask and answer:

 Use the courseware ,let the students read the dialogue silently .Then answer the following questions on the large screen.

Step8 Pair work:

Let the volunteens act out the dialogue.

Step9. Grammar:

Teach grammar focus models and activities.

Step10.Exercises:

1). According to Chinese hints,complete the sentences on the large screen.

2).Match the answers to the questions on the large screen.

3).Complete the sentences with the given words in the proper forms on the large screen.

4). Synonymy sentences on the large screen.

Step11.Have a rest:

Show some pictures ,click the tromba,have the studens listen to the sweet music and enjoy the beautiful sceneries.

Step12.Let’s sing a song.

Sing “Happy Birthday”.It’s a traditional English song that we sing to someone on their birthday ,usually just before they blow out their birthday candles .Tell the students that a name goes in the blanks.Today it’s Jenny’s birthday,so we sing her name. Click the tromba,have the students follow it again and  again till they can sing it by themselves.

Step13. Summary

1).Invite people to attend the party.

2).Dialogue about birthday.

3). Simple Future Tense.

Step14.Activities for researching practice:

 I f time permites,we can do the following activities:

 1).Let the students sing the song “Happy Birthday !”

 2).Ask some students to ask and anwer the questions according to Part 1and Part 2 on page 44.

Step15.Class closing:

     1.Sing the song "Happy Birthday!"

2.Homework.

1).Finish off the activity book.

2).Read the dialogtues in this lesson.

3).Preview Lesson 36.

Step16. Teaching reflection:

This class, if we teach only the essential and ensure plenty of practice ,I think it’s better!
