Step1 Everyday English and greetings

1.     Sing a song: How are you?

2.     Free talk:

(1) How are you?

(2) What’s the weather like today? / How’s the weather?

(3) What’s this? Point the thing in the classroom which they have learnt and ask.

Step2 Presentation

1.     Teach word: ruler.

(1) T shows the ruler and asks: What’s this? Help Ss to say the words.

(2) Game: Litter train, go go go.

(3) T puts the ruler away and asks: What’s that? T answers and says: It’s a ruler.

(4) T: Show me your ruler.

Ss: My ruler. T invites Ss to say it one by one.

 

2.     Teach: that

(1)  T points to different things with saying: This/ That. Help Ss understand the meaning of these two words.

(2)  T corrects the pronunciations of two words.

(3)   T asks “what’s this?” “What’s that?” Ss answered: It’s a…

(4)  T requires Ss to ask: What’s this? What’s that?

T and other Ss answer.

3.     Teach: rubber.

(1) T points to something far away and let Ss guess what T is pointing to.

(2) Ss learn to say the word: rubber.

(3) What’s the difference between ruler and rubber?

(4) How to remember these two words?

(5) Read two words for time.

(6) T says the words and Ss show the pictures of the words.

4.     Teach: crayon, pen.

(1) T: We often made mistakes when we’re writing or drawing, rubbers can clear them. But sometimes, rubbers are useless. For example, please.

(2) Teach how to read the word: crayon.

(3) Let Ss practice.

(4) Litter train.

(5) T takes out a pencil and asks: What’s this? T writes the word on the blackboard. And then T changes the word into pen.

(6) Ss read the word by themselves.

(7) Play the game: Hide and seek.

T hides the words card to the place of one people, and Ss use the sound to give the seeker hint. When the seeker near the word, Ss speak loudly, when the seeker far from the word, Ss speak lowly.

Step 3 Practise

1.     Ask and answer: What’s this? What’s that?

2.     Point and read or read and show.

3.     Game: I read loudly, and you read lowly.

Step4 Consolidation

1.     Help Ss review the meaning of “my…” T takes one ruler of one S and asks: What’s this? Is this your ruler? Is this my ruler?

2.     T takes some rulers, rubbers, crayons and pens. Let Ss recognize their own things and say: That’s my… and take them back.

3.     Read the words after the tape recorder.

In this class, the stationary words: ruler/rubber/crayon are a little difficult. Ss always confused the two words begin with letter “r” The reading of “crayon” is hard for some of them. I should give more time to practice these 4 words. Ss can distinguish near and far. And know the difference between “this” and “that” But when they talking about the thing. 2.       Free talk:

(1) T: What’s the weather like today? It’s sunny day.

(2) T: How are you?

Ss: I’m good, thank you.

Ss: I’m well, thank you.

 

Step2: Presentation

1.     Teach: new

(1) T takes two things, one is old, the other is new. Now please tell me which one is nice?

Ss point to the new one.

T: Oh, yes, it’s new.

(2) T says the word: new. Ss read after T for times.

(3) Say the word in phrase. For example: a new book.

(4) Ss find sth. New from themselves and say: my new…

(5) Help Ss to say the sentence: This is my new…/ That’s my new…

(6) T writes the sentence on the blackboard.

2.     Teach: nice新课标第一网

(1) T: look at my new ruler. I like it very much. It’s very nice. (T uses the fingers to show)

Do you like the ruler?

  Ss: Yes. (T uses the fingers to give them hint)

   Ss: It’s nice.

(2) Ss learn to say the word: nice.

(3) Let Ss introduce their own things using: This is my nice…/ That’s my new…

(4) T writes the sentence on the blackboard.

3.     Ss read the two words after T for times and distinguish them.

4.     Teach the answer: It’s very nice.

(1) When the Ss introduce their nice things, T helps other Ss to say: It’s very nice.

(2) Pair work.

1.     Let Ss listen to the song.

2.     Ask Ss to clap hands when they heard the words: nice, new.

3.     Ss open the books, listen to the song and point to the words.

4.     Ss try to sing along with the tape recorder.

5.      Ss sing the song for times.

6.      Ss change the word and sing the song again.

Step 4 Homework:

Read Part AB 5 times.

Postscript

 The words “new” and “nice” are difficult to express. So they show the difficulty to distinguish. But the song, helps Ss to get the ideas of these two words. And they consolidate these words from this form. I think they must go on learning these words next time.

T helps them to say: It’s warm. Spring is coming, and everything turns to green. Rose is in the bloom, you can see it if you will wait. Is rose nice?

Ss: Yes, it’s very nice.

Step 2: Review

1.     Sing the song: <My nice ruler>

2.     Ss change the words and sing the songs.

3.     Ss sing their songs in pairs.

Step 3: Presentation

1.     Teach the letter Gg.

(1) Ss read after T.

(2) Which word include the letter g?

Ss may say a lot, T helps them to concluded the pronunciation of letter: G g in the word.

(3) Read the words.

(4) What does letter Gg look like?

2.     Teach the letter Hh.

(1) Can you find letter h? (there’re many words on the list)

(2) h pronounced /h/. Read the words.

3.     find friends

T gives them some letters and let the one who hold the capital letter to find the one who hold small letter.

4. Letter competition: T says: A, Ss say:B, T says C, Ss say D.

Begin the class with the song: rose rose. Let them to review the words: nice. And the expression “It’s very nice.” Then they can distinguish them easily. Letter saying competition helps Ss read more fluently. I read the letter, and they show the cards. This process check them if they catch the letter or not. 6.     T shows the word cards and Ss read aloud.

7.     play the letter family game.

Step 3: Part E: Play a game.        

1.     T explains the pictures of the game.

2.     T shows how to play the game.

3.     T gives them some pictures on the ppt. And Ss work in pairs.

This unit is about the stationary words, add 4 words we’ve learnt last class. Ss totally get the eight words. While teaching the new words, we review the old words. T helps Ss enhance their vocabulary. In this unit, they’ve learnt the polite manner. When others show you his/her things, you must praise it in the daily communication.
